Daniel Adewuyi Tella was preparing for his youth service in 2006, after graduating with a degree in Banking and Finance.

He was arrested on the 7th of February 2006 on his way home in FESTAC Lagos. When his family came to identify his body, all the valuables he had when arrested were gone. His phone, money, and even shoes. He also had on a gold chain which his uncle said he was wearing on the day he was arrested – this was missing as well.

The police claimed he made attempts to escape by jumping out of their vehicles and the injuries sustained killed him. However, his family strongly believe he was tortured and killed by the police in a bid to extort more money from him.

Till today, no one in the Police force has claimed responsibility for Daniel’s death.
