20-year old Adaobi Ifeanyi and her boyfriend, Emmanuel Akomafuwa, aged 22, were shot by the police, on their way back from a nightclub in the early hours of Saturday, April 14th 2019.
While Emmanuel survived a life-threatening shot in the head, his girlfriend wasn’t as lucky, as she died on the spot.
Reports say the lovers were flagged down by policemen from Trinity police station, but they didn’t stop, prompting a hot chase by the police. One Inspector Dania Ojo was said to have shot at Emmanuel who drove the car, before turning the nuzzle to Adaobi.
Adaobi’s father, Ifeanyi Ojide says he is yet to recover from the shock of losing his daughter.
“We had only talked briefly about how she was preparing for her exams before I left home. I thought it was a lie when I was informed the next day that she had been killed,” he said.
The Lagos State Police Command released a statement, that it had dismissed and declared wanted the killer cop, who it said was on the run. Five others who were members of the team were also arrested: Inspector Adamu Usman, Sergeant Adeyeye Adeoye, Sergeant Kashim Tijani, Sergeant Lucky Akigbe and Sergeant Paul Adeoye.
