Agaba Timothy Oko

2012

Apo, Abuja.

Agaba was abducted a few months before his 25th birthday. Agaba was on his way back from a visit to the vet with his dog and about two of his friends when they were apprehended by SARS officials, they got arrested and were taken to Apo Station.

One of his friend’s girlfriends called Agaba’s brother to tell him about the arrest and how the friends were being held down for unfound reasons. She confirmed to Agaba’s brother that she had gone to the station and saw them being held, but the second time she went, they were no longer there.

When Agaba’s family went to the SARS station, they were told to check in a book for names of arrested people from the previous day. They couldn’t find anything, the police also didn’t allow them to go inside the station, to check the persons there for confirmation.

On their way out, a guard who pitied the family based on the fact that they were from the same Idoma tribe, told Agaba’s family that the officers inside were lying, as this was a common practice with them, the guard confirmed that the persons who got arrested were brought in. He told them ominously to get a lawyer and find their relatives before something happened.

But unfortunately, even with a lawyer, the family were denied entry several times when they went back to the station. They were told to visit other stations. Till date, Agaba was never found.
