Haruna was a final year student of Business Administration at Ambrose Alli University, in Ekpoma, Edo State. He was about to graduate, and had a whole future ahead of him. Unfortunately, his life was cut short when SARS raided the student hostel he was in. Haruna was washing his clothes. Him and other students fled, as they regularly did the many times SARS invaded student hostels, for fear of being extorted, brutalized or killed. 

Haruna went missing that night. It was four days later that his body was found, inside an abandoned well. The circumstances of his death are unclear, as an anonymous student told the journalists he fell while trying to escape from SARS, while his older brother affirmed he was killed by SARS and then dumped in a well.
