Ogbomosho, Oyo State.

On 10th October, 2020, twenty-two year old Jimoh Isiaq stepped out of his parents’ house in Ogbomosho, to join hundreds of youths all over Nigeria to protest against SARS in the ongoing #EndSars movement. He had just finished his apprenticeship and was ready to set off on his own as an electrician. But he knew he had to join this collective fight to salvage his country.

He was shot by the police as they marched peacefully against police brutality in Owode, Ogbomosho. The hospital charged the sum of 150,000 naira to conduct an emergency surgery in order to extract the bullet from his body. The family could not afford it. He died shortly after getting to the hospital.

According to eyewitnesses, the officers responsible for his murder are the DPO of Owode Police Station, Officer Smart and Officer Ayeni.

“Jimoh is…was a happy guy. Hardworking, and had dreams. Everybody liked him,” the family lawyer says. “His death has crushed the family. He was the last child. The love of everybody in the family,” he said.
