Micheal Akpofure Oharisi

2018

Warri, Delta State.

Michael was a data analyst; he had a master’s from Leeds university and a good job in the UK. Michael had lived in the UK for about 22 years, he came back to Nigeria in 2017 for a family reunion in Warri and was going around with a cousin to visit family members when his car was stopped by SARS. The killer officers stopped them and saw part of his tattoos from the short sleeve shirt he was wearing. They made him get down from the vehicle and take off his shirt, then started harassing him while pointing a gun to his cousin threatening her not to move a muscle.

They tried to rough him up and he kept asking what was happening. His accent isn’t very clear to them and as he reached out to his pocket to get out his ID card, he was shot because they thought he was trying to bring out a gun. While he was bleeding, the killer officers jumped in their truck and drove off. Michael died before they could get to a hospital.

When Michael’s family tried to report the case, the police said their claims were lies and they needed proof, they also tried to rope his cousin as the culprit who arranged guys to kill him. This led them to abandon the case and mourn their loss.

Michael was planning on starting up a poultry business here in Nigeria before he returned to the UK. He was the second of his parent’s three kids and a treasure in the family because of his humble and loving personality.
