Richard Gora Peter

Richard Gora Peter was a 22-year-old student of Architecture at the Kaduna State University and the only son of his parents. He was arrested after the officers of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad traced a stolen phone to him. He had bought the phone for N10,000. The police claimed that the phone was used to send threats to an unnamed man who lived in Gorin-Gora. The texts were said to ask him to provide 5 million naira or something dangerous would happen to him. 

The SARS officials traced the IMEI number to Richard and abducted him from his grandfather’s residence that Sunday morning. He was detained on Sunday morning at the SARS office on Independence way, Kaduna. He was tortured to the point of unconsciousness. His mother pleaded with the officers to release him on bail so he could see a doctor but they refused, saying that their boss needed to be around to grant his release. He eventually passed in their custody at about 11.45pm.  He was laid to rest on 7th July 2018.
